Axiom Workplaces

Sydney CBD, NSW
overview

For a design studio like Axiom Workplaces, collaboration sits at the heart of everything, and their new office was a genuine opportunity to build a workplace around it. From our earliest conversations with the Axiom team, it was clear the innovation space would be the centre piece: three operable walls open the room into the adjoining breakout area, and through the working week it carries all-staff meetings, client pitches and day-to-day collaboration across the business.

The room is anchored by a custom 32:9video wall with a 0.9-millimetre pixel pitch, colour graded for accuracy, with seamless joins so it reads as a single screen. The format is effectively two16:9 screens side by side, supporting dual-content presentation, and as a design studio, Axiom builds custom content for it, which is where the format is at its most impactful.

Because the space changes shape when the operable walls open, the audio was engineered to perform identically in either configuration. Two Shure MXA920 ceiling microphones handle meetings and audience engagement, while Shure wireless handheld and lapel microphones provide local amplification for larger panel-style events.

The camera system was a considered piece of engineering. Six cameras serve the room: five across the front, and one on the ceiling facing the presenter. Using audio data from the microphones, the system transitions between cameras automatically, so remote participants always receive a full frame of whoever is speaking, without seeing any panning, tilting or zooming, without any operator involvement. The room runs on Microsoft Teams Rooms, powered by the Q-SYS platform with wireless presentation through Crestron AirMedia. BrightSign signage carrying content when the space is not in use, including during the catered functions the room regularly hosts.

Across the rest of the office, the back-of-house rooms operate on Logitech hardware with room scheduling and occupancy indicators, using the same tap controller as the innovation space, so regardless of the room, the way you interact with it is the same. The result is an office that works the way Axiom does: built around collaboration, consistent from the showpiece innovation space to the smallest meeting room, and ready for whatever the day asks of it.
